My Legs

Don’t call your first born Humpty, if your surname’s Dumpty!

Don’t try to jump onto a brick ledge if you know you can’t do it.

On Wednesday the 13th of August, there was a competition to see who could jump onto a brick ledge whilst keeping their legs together. I failed.

I hobbled to the uni nurse where she filled the hole with putty, put on some bandages and sent me on my way.

Last night Julian took some nice quality pictures for all to see.

WARNING!! THESE PICTURES ARE EXTREMELY LARGE AND I DON’T KNOW HOW TO MAKE THEM SMALLER, AS STUPID MACS DON’T SEEM TO HAVE IMAGE EDITING PROGRAMS! ALSO, SOME PICTURES MAY CAUSE QUEASINESS!

Firstly, here’s the wall.

WALL

and now here’s the left leg.

LEFT LEG

and now here’s the right leg. As you can see, the putty is attached to the bandage, and gives you a good idea of how deep the wound is.

Stupid blog. Stupid wall. Stupid me.

  1. Classical musicians don’t do anything stupid like that. We’re much more…sophisticated? :P

Personally, I think your legs should’ve been steri-stripped…
    Or maybe even amputated.

    That’d teach you a lesson…

  2. Does this mean your free-running / parkour days are effectively over, Roboin? No recreations of the “Casino Royale” intro. sequence for my amusement? Lame.

I’m disappointed no-one filmed you wreckless behaviour but I suppose Julian’s photographs were a nice consolation. Who knew the human leg was filled with so many interesting bits and pieces?

  3. Don’t worry, JP, my legs’ll be ready for your Aunt Selma’s birthday.

  4. I’d like to believe that this time. Wait … that’s not the follow-up quote. Is it? Bah, who cares.

I can’t even begin to imagine how the wound became the way it did. Did you jump into a nail or something? Either way, it gets my vote for the “Injury of the Week” award. And now a word from our sponsors.

  5. This is your mother speaking – don’t do anything so stupid again!!!!!

  6. But I did it for you. Happy Mother’s Day!

  7. I have my doubts that you did it for me – I think it was all an act for your personal glorification ; )

  8. I agree with your mum. :D

  9. Oi!!

  10. :-O

You told me it was for John-Paul!

You two-bit-leg-destroying hussy! How could you?! He gave you everything! Even two legs!

  11. YAIC (yet another informative comment)

The program ‘Preview’ (that opens images by default) is what yer lookin’ for…

OS X 10.4? Resizing with automator and ‘Preview’, tedious but possible, http://www.macosxtips.co.uk/index_files/access-extra-preview-features-through-automator.html

OS X 10.5? You’re in luck, ‘Preview’ can do it through the menus now. On the Preview menu; Tools -> Adjust size. Just be careful when you save it, it overwrites the original files. http://www.usingmac.com/2008/6/10/batch-resize-images

If you find yourself even wanting a free program to edit pictures on your Mac, try GimpShop http://www.gimpshop.com/download.shtml

  12. I love Macs! They just make everything so simple, ya know? So easy to work with, so user-friendly! Idiots.

  13. How have your legs healed, Blobby? Can we have an update on your new legs?

  14. INFECTED!! The one with the big hole has only slightly healed, but I think they’re both infected. I’m getting my pills soon. I’ve been taking pictures, as has Julian, so once they’re healed I’ll write another blog.

  15. Macs are only user-friendly if you know how to use them properly. :P

  16. Double dose on those tablets Robin – we don’t want you to die from the INFECTION :(

  17. Being a crappy student nurse, I can assure you that Robin will most likely die from INFECTION :-O

  18. Keep an eye out for that flesh-eating virus too – mainly prevalent on the natives of the Bellarine Peninsula.

  19. gross. im off to eat breakfast. putty anyone?

  20. I personally believe that US Americans that are unable to do so, because summer people out there in our nation, don’t have maps and I believe that our education like such as South Africa and Iraq and everywhere like such as and I believe that they should, our education over here in the US should help the US, oh-or should help South Africa and should help Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future….for us. =D

  21. I doubt you’ll return to my blog to read the comment I left for you there, so I wanted to post it here as well! Thaaaanks for the video man! I freakin’ love it! Your brak vids are the best! :)

  22. Hey Robin, John told me that you were less than impressed w/ my video recommendation, “A Christmas Story”. I can’t tell you how disappointed I was because I love that movie! But then after I thought aboot it, I think the reason I like it so much is because I first watched it when I was young and impressionable, so the nostalgic value is a huge part of it’s appeal. Anywho, sorry that you didn’t like it, but at least I didn’t suggest that stupid bratz movie like Matt did! LOL

Hope you had a great Christmas! :)

  23. Hey Robin! I think for me what I liked about it, and what I related to when I was a kid, was all of the “mom” cliches. I remember it being a 20-minute ordeal just to get my snowsuit on, or my mom using ridiculous tactics to try to get us to eat our veggies. I have a great memory of my brother sucking on a bar of soap after he’d said a bad word, and crying so hard he was hiccuping. Hee hee! Good times… I particularly liked the references to “You’ll shoot your eye out!”. My mom always had a similar remark whenever my brothers and I were being too rowdy or running with sharp objects. Anyway, sometimes movies are better the second time around and sometimes they’re not, so if you give it another shot and still think it sucks, I won’t hold it against you. I remember I hated “Anchorman” the first time I saw it, and now I love it. I’ve watched it at least six times and it gets better w/ every subsequent viewing! Anyway, I digress…

    have a good one! :)

  24. Have you seen this one yet, Robin?
