  1. Is there something you want to tell us Robin? Did the saucepan hurt you?

  2. I like this blog btw. It says so much so quickly. You are an innovator.

  3. I just get tired of using the tea towel (too poor to own an oven mitt).

  4. And thanks for your kind comments. I’m glad you’ve got yours back up and running.

  5. Yeah, I’ve often thought that too. I can only deduce that this saucepan is sooo old, it was made before plastic was in middle-class circulation. Pre-1950’s?

  6. Either that, or the manufacturers are having a big laugh right now.
“HAHAHA! They boil the water in the saucepan right…hahaha….and then…..oh…oh….oh….get this! They can’t….HAHAHA…..THEY CAN’T HOLD ONTO THE HANDLE! HA! HA! HA!”

  7. I think bakelite was the first common household plastic, pre 1950’s sounds about right.

I love speculating online without instantly heading to Google/Wikipedia. It demostrates a sense of nostalgia, looking back to the days when people sat around coffee tables and speculated all night as to the true nature of things. Days when discussions ended with “Thank you for offering us your vast knowledge on that subject,” and not with “Let’s look it up in Wikipedia.”
